ICES Representatives

Each     year,    Midyear
Meetings are held at the site of   the   next    year's
convention.    This
provides   an   opportunity for   on-site  tours of the meeting facilities, rooms, and the surrounding area so that the ICES Representatives can take the information back to their members.
This year, the meeting will be held February 23-26, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Lexington in Lexington Kentucky - site of the 2013 ICES Convention and Show.

Midyear Meetings are also working meetings for the ICES Board of Directors and Representatives. Any ICES member who is interested in learning about how ICES works
is also welcome and encouraged to attend - especially if they're considering running for the Board or being a representative. While the Board is meeting to go over business matters, the representatives are in meetings covering various topics regarding ICES business procedures and learning more about their responsibilities to the states, areas, provinces, countries, and chapters that they represent. This is also a time for the representatives to make any motions regarding concerns they or their members might have to present to the Board for consideration.

The Midyear Meeting this year will also feature several demonstrations and games that the representatives will be able to carry back for use during their Days of Sharing or meetings.

Surely do hope
you're planning to join us; and if you know of someone considering running for the Board or you're going to be holding elections during the spring and know of someone wanting to run as a representative, please pass the information along to them.

Registration and payment for the Midyear Meeting must be received no later than
January 25, 2012. Hotel reservations should be made as soon as possible. Forms and information for both are available on the  "2012  Midyear  Meeting" page.

* BRIGITTE NGUYEN, host of her own television show on the cooking channel, "In The Kitchen With . . . ".  Growing up in a Vietnamese household, Brigitte's warmest experiences were built around meals.  Food was her mom's greatest passion and it has always been her way of bringing together family and showing her love.

After a successful career as a corporate accountant, Brigitte followed her heart and enrolled in culinary school to follow her true passion.  She competed and finished as a runner-up in two national cooking contests - Sutter Home's Build a Better Burger and the Food Network's Ultimate Recipe Showdown.  The third time that she entered proved to be a charm when she took home the $50,000 grand prize at the National Chicken Council's Biennial Cooking Contest.  Soon after winning, Brigitte married and now lives in Lexington, Kentucky.

She has cooked in the acclaimed USA Houses for both the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and the Winter Games in Vancouver.  She currently works as a prep cook, baker, caterer, teacher of private cooking classes and as host for her TV show.

*ANGIE VIVAS, originally from Puerto Rico, married her husband while he was in the military, and currently resides in Kentucky.  While stationed overseas, she was able to study in Thailand at the School of Art and Fruit Carving, where she received her degree.  Later stationed near Lexington, where they moved, the Kentucky ICES group was able to become personally acquainted with Angie and recognize her gifted talent.  She graduated from the Sullivan Culinary College in Louisville, Kentucky; and after graduating, she became part of the Sullivan teaching team.  She has won both silver and bronze medals from the Retail Baker's Association in the carving and pastry division.  She was the personnel chef for the Kentucky Lt. Governor, as well as the Kentucky Governor.  She worked at the Hyatt (host hotel of the 2012 Midyear Meeting and the 2013 ICES Convention and Show) and several other hotels.

She has recently written and published her own book in English and Spanish called Fantasias - The Art of Fruit and Vegetable Carving.  Her work is superior and this rare demonstration is worth seeing at any price.  Angie will have her books available, if you should be interested in purchasing one.
