The International Cake Exploration Societe' (ICES) was founded by Betty Jo Steinman in 1976 at the National EXPLO Cake Show in Monroe, Michigan, as a way of bringing cake decorators together to share their knowledge, learn new techniques, display their work without any judging being done, and obtain the latest in equipment, books, and supplies.
Today, ICES has over 4,000 members worldwide consisting of sugar artists, cake decorators, vendors, culinary students, professional chefs, bakers, hobbyists, and others interested in cake decorating and the sugar arts.
The ICES Board of Directors and Executive Officers are elected by the membership at the annual ICES Convention and Show. Representatives are elected by their local memberships, or appointed, to help spread the enjoyment of cake decorating and the sugart arts in a caring and sharing manner in whatever state, area, province, country, or chapter they represent around the world.
